The car is an early 1980 Caterham 7 Series 3 1600 Crossflow. It was first registered in 1980 and has had only one registered owner. The owner worked all over Europe and used it as his daily transport. It was found in Italy where the owner was living and had started to fall apart and the chassis rusted out. The vehicle has been dismantled and recovered to the UK. It has been subject to a full restoration with a long cockpit chassis, adapted to take the Ford Type 9 gearbox, painted in classic Lotus green and yellow stripe and fitted with genuine Minilite magnesium wheels. The 1600 crossflow ending has been fully rebuilt and is the same as the Escort Mexico with a thick wall 711M block and fitted with twin Webber’s and the Type 9 5-speed close ratio cluster gearbox. The car has been rebuilt to as good as new.
